Part of our new DIY series, this beginner-friendly class introduces basic home DIY skills through a group project: building a simple patio table from spaced boards and 2x3s. Students work together to make one table, giving them hands-on experience with practical woodworking and home project techniques. Students will learn about types of wood, basic wood theory, and how to select and buy wood for home projects.

You will learn:

  • Selection and preparation of wood for DIY projects

  • Accurate measuring and marking using squares and tape measures

  • Using basic hand-tools 

  • Safe saw use, including jigsaws, and portable saws 

  • Using dowelling jig and dowel joinery

  • Techniques for sawing straight lines and keeping saws tracking correctly

  • Using a hammer, nails, screws, and plugs

  • Safety training and worksite awareness

Who it’s for: Suitable for all levels, including complete beginners.
