Chairmaking Part 1

Make a Welsh Stick chair with hand tools. There is no steam bending or lathe turning involved. The Welsh Stick chair is based on the work and directions of Christopher Swartz’s book. There is plenty of handtool work involved and attending to the grain direction. Multiple woods are used as the chairs are usually painted with milk paint.

Part 1 is for getting all the elements made and shaped. Assembly is done at home or by taking Chair part 2, that continues during the next set of weekends.

Times: 6 sessions 10am - 3:30 pm with a lunch break ( 30 hours of class time)

Materials: wood included . Various woods are used as the chair is painted when finished.
