Deluxe - Bench
Hallway Bench in hardwood – 17.5 hours (5x) $520 wood included
This is one of our popular classes and takes students into the next steps for successful woodworking on Monday evenings. This is a once-a-week class spanning 5 sessions. There is an emphasis on measuring properly, cutting accurately, making joinery and using core techniques in a consistent manner.
· Build a small bench or table shelf with the shape and design you want
· Learn the processes for making many other types of furniture
· Focusing on the safe use of woodworking machines, and layout techniques
· Learn important steps and practices for building good habits and avoiding mistakes
· You and a new group of friends will learn various ways to cut and shape wood
· The project using the mortise and tenon joinery called floating tenons
· The class is open to beginners.
MATERIALS: 2x6 red alder or similar woods
PREREQUISITES: None (but will be easier if a beginner class was previously taken)
TOOLS: jointer, planer, hand planes, chop-saw, table-saw, Festool Domino, router table, bandsaw
EXERCISE: Safe sequence of steps to take construction lumber and build a small sitting bench or plant shelf.
DURATION: Monday nights 17.5 hours (5 sessions) 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm
